Animal Painting Experience

Where can you find the most unique gift in town?
Looking for a gift for the person who has everything? You can’t buy this anywhere else but at the Houston Zoo! Animal lovers can watch as one of our animal artists paints their personal masterpiece. Pick the colors you prefer, then stand back and let our orangutans or elephants do the rest! You will go home with a beautiful piece of art to enjoy for years, as well as the incredible experience of seeing it painted by one of our resident artists.

How do I sign up?
Reservations can be made by emailing tours@houstonzoo.org or calling 713-533-6550. Your experience must be scheduled 3 to 4 business weeks in advance.

Which animals can I see paint?
Orangutans or Elephants – and you may choose the colors!

What size is the painting?
Canvas size is 16” x 20”. All paintings are presented unframed and come with a biography of the artist.

How old do I have to be?
To ensure the safety of our guests and animals, the following age restrictions apply without exception:

Orangutans – 12 years or older
Elephants - no age restriction, but there must be one adult per child.

How many people can participate?
This experience is customized for groups of 1 to 4 people. 

What does this experience cost?
The cost is $500 for the experience, one painting, and regular Zoo admission for participants. Payment for your experience must be received at least 20 business days prior to the experience date.
