Wildlife Lecture Series
September kicks off the Houston Zoo’s annual Wildlife Lecture Series featuring exciting presentations about rare, unusual and charismatic creatures. A portion of the purchase price helps to support wildlife conservation projects.

Lectures are held in the Brown Education Center begining promptly at 7:00 p.m. with
doors opening at 6:30 p.m for appetizers. Please park in the main Zoo lot and enter through Gate 5.
When you arrive, your receipt will serve as your ticket, so please print a copy and
bring it to the lecture. If you have purchased a ticket at the Student price, please
be prepared to show your Student ID at the gate.

Ray Mendez, Work as Play
A seasoned entomologist and world class photographer, Ray Mendez also launched naked mole-rats as popular exhibit animals in zoos and aquariums across the country. A serious student of animal social behavior, he comes to Houston to share his perspective of creatures that often go unnoticed by the average person. Another title for this presentation could have been “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Creepy-Crawlies but Were Afraid to Ask”.
