These arboreal primates swing through the treetops in a movement called “brachiation,” using their long arms to swing from branch to branch.
How we Help Save Them
The Houston Zoo is helping save primates around the world (Asia, Africa, South America) by working to mitigate human-wildlife conflict by investing in local communities, equipping anti-poaching patrols, protecting and restoring habitat through reforestation initiatives led by locals, and providing for expert veterinary care to heal and rehabilitate sick and injured primates.
