Meet the Camp Staff

This talented group of individuals includes returning Camp Guides, classroom teachers, informal educators, and graduate and undergraduate students majoring in science or education fields. We are excited to have such a passionate group of Camp Guides leading campers this season.

Camp Leadership

Hello Everyone! I am Nicholas and I am excited for my 14th summer with Camp Zoofari. I cannot wait for campers to explore our new Galápagos habitats and explore all around the Zoo. Their passion for wildlife is infectious, and I love seeing how they connect to the animals here at the Zoo, all of the various Zoo staff, and how they take action to help save wildlife. I am also looking forward to our second annual end of season beach clean-up, to celebrate the end of our Bird Saving Summer!

My name is Kelly and this is my 16th summer with Camp Zoofari. Every summer I look forward to welcoming campers back to the Zoo- whether it’s your first year or seventh. I am excited to see campers participate in our Bird Saving Summer and see firsthand how we are working to save animals in the wild.

Hello everyone! My name is Melissa, and this will be my 14th summer with Camp Zoofari. I absolutely love this time of year, when our Zoo hosts hundreds of campers who all love animals as much as we do. I look forward to helping create memorable moments for our campers, including getting eye-to-eye with some of their favorite species. Thank you for sharing your child with us and we look forward to seeing everyone on August 3rd for our Bird Saving Summer beach cleanup.

Hi everyone! My name is Lillie and this is my fourth summer with Camp Zoofari. I am so excited to interact with all of our campers and help facilitate an awesome season. My favorite part of camp is creating connections between campers and all the fascinating animals that call the zoo home. I am extremely passionate about all things reptiles and birds and love inspiring campers to help save them in the wild. I’m looking forward to celebrating our Bird Saving Summer!

Camp Guides

My name is Abby, and I am excited to dive deeper into my first year of Camp Zoofari. I’m eager to absorb as much knowledge as possible and forge meaningful connections with my campers. My favorite animal is the Clouded Leopard.

My name is Adi and this summer I am most excited to learn more about ecology and the species we have here at the Zoo. My favorite animals are penguins!

My name is Amy, and I am looking forward to sharing my love of wildlife conservation with campers that have the same passion for animals. I love to visit the Giant River Otters and watch them play.

My name is Ashley, and I am looking forward to sharing with my campers the animals the zoo cares for and the role they play in conservation. My favorite animal is a ferret and when I’m not at camp I enjoy figure skating, camping, and wildlife photography!

My name is Austin and this summer I am ready to share the wonders of the zoo with the camp participants and provide a fun and educational experience that inspires them! My favorite exhibit at the Zoo is the African Forest and when I’m not at work I enjoy exercising and running outdoors, hiking, and skiing.

My name is Ava, and I am so excited to share my love for animals and conservation with campers! My favorite animal is Florence the green anaconda and outside of the zoo, I love going to the movies and reading a good book.

My name is Avery and I most excited to meet all my campers and have a great time with them learning about animals and conservation in such a unique and hands on way! My favorite animal is a lion, but I love the meerkat exhibit at the zoo also!

My name is Bailey and I looking forward to learning more about the animals at the Houston Zoo as I teach the campers about them and connect with nature. My favorite exhibit has to be Galapagos- I love watching the tortoises and jellyfish.

My name is Benjamin, and I am excited to spend my first summer at Camp Zoofari. I enjoy working with kids and seeing the learning process- especially when they have a eureka moment! My favorite animals would be either the wolf or the tiger.

My name is Brianna, and I am looking forward to a great first summer with Camp Zoofari! My favorite animal is the Bengal Tiger, and outside of work I love to go fishing and off-season track.

My name is Cailyn, and I am looking forward to making connections with all of my campers this summer. I enjoy doing a lot of outdoor activities, but my favorites are going to the river and beach.

My name is Crystal, and I am excited to learn more about my campers this summer. My favorite animals are elephants with their amazing memories! I enjoy gardening in my spare time, and I love to see plants prosper!

My name is Dayanara, and I am excited to meet all of our campers and create fun and memorable moments this summer! I am looking forward to taking my campers through Galapagos.

My name is Deborah and I’m excited to share cool animal facts and conservation stories with our campers. I also can’t wait to see all the baby animals that have been born this year at the zoo!

My name is Emily and I’m excited about inspiring our campers to care for and explore nature while understanding more about our animal friends. My favorite animal is tie between the adorable Red Pandas or the Sri Lankan green vine snake.

My name is Fabiana and am excited to meet the campers this summer! My top two favorite animals are sea otters and capybara’s, and I can’t wait to take my camp groups through the Pantanal exhibit.

My name is Guadalupe and I looking forward to my first summer with Camp Zoofari!

My name is Isabel, and I am most excited to be able to be a part of such a great learning opportunity for children and be able to be outside all day! My favorite animals is the tiger, and when I’m not at the Zoo I love to read in the sun, fish, go on boat rides and go for walks.

My name is Jamira I’m excited to make long lasting memories with campers this summer! My favorite zoo animal is a cheetah. I enjoy going to the park and walking the trails when I’m not at work.

My name is Jessica this summer I am very excited to meet all the new campers and explore the Houston Zoo. My favorite animal is the elephant and outside of work I love to go on bike rides in the park.

My name is Jessica and I am really excited about spending time in the Galapagos and learning about all the new animals alongside my campers.

My name is Joey and I excited about some of our new camp themes, and taking campers through the Galapagos exhibit. My favorite outdoor activity other than the zoo is golfing, coaching softball, and just relaxing in my yard.

My name is Julia, and I am excited about sharing animal stories with the campers and hearing their own stories as well. My favorite animals at the Zoo are Berani the Tiger and Khaos the Chimpanzee.

My name is Julss and I am looking forward to taking my camp groups through the Galapagos exhibit. My favorite outdoor activity is going to my home country and running around trails and visiting waterfalls. I enjoy running and staying active as much as I can.

My name is Kat, and this is my 2nd year working with Camp Zoofari.  I am so excited to share my love of the natural world with this year’s campers, and to learn from them as well.  My favorite animals are the California Sea Lions (especially Jonah!)

My name is Katlyn, and I am excited about learning new things about the animals and getting to share the excitement of the Zoo with the campers! My favorite animal is the Sea Lion.

My name is Lien, and I am looking forward to exploring the new exhibits and inspiring future animal scientists with cool animal facts. My favorite animal is the octopus, and my favorite exhibit is the Pantanal.

My name is Lizdette, and I am looking forward to sharing Zoo information with my campers this summer. I love spending time at the Galapagos exhibit and my favorite animal is a blue-ringed octopus. When I’m not at work I enjoy running, swimming, and hiking leisurely.

My name is Madison, and I’m so excited to form connections with my campers and create lifelong memories. My favorite animals are pygmy goats and pygmy hippos, and in my free time I enjoy lying in a hammock with a good book or camping with my family.

My name is Mady and this summer I am looking forward to teaching my campers more about the animals at the Zoo. I love all of the Big Cats at the Houston Zoo.

My name is Marcus, and I am excited to spend the summer helping campers have an amazing camp experience. Chuckwallas are my favorite animals and outside of the Zoo I love spending time on the beach.

My name is Marielle, and I am most excited about getting to teach the next generation about wildlife and how they can be a part of protecting it! My favorite exhibit is the bug house and outside of work I enjoy hunting for insects and looking at wildlife!

My name is Melissa, and I am very excited about the new Galapagos Islands exhibit and sharing it with our campers. The sea lions have always been one of my favorite animal experiences at the Houston Zoo.

My name is Nataly, and I am the most excited about being at the zoo and learning new ways to educate others about saving wildlife! My favorite animal is the tiger. Every time I come visit the Houston Zoo Berani is the first animal I go see!

My name is Naydelin, and I am looking forward to connecting with my campers and fellow camp guides this summer. My favorite exhibit is the otters! I love going to see them anytime I’m at the zoo and they’re always so fun to watch!

My name is Rachael, and I am most excited to work with kids and create lasting, impactful relationships with them, while helping them grow in their knowledge about the zoo. My favorite Houston Zoo animal is the Asian Elephants, specifically Tupelo!

My name is Rachel, and I look forward to being able to share the zoo with all the kids that come to camp this summer. I love the Pantanal exhibit, because jaguars are one of my favorite animals. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time at the beach.

My name is Samantha, and I am looking forward to my first summer working at Camp Zoofari!

My name is Sara, I’m most excited this summer to about meeting new faces at Camp Zoofari! My favorite exhibit is the Okapis, especially sweet Kwame. My favorite outdoor activities are kayaking and beach combing!

My name is Sonia, and I am looking forward to working my first summer at Camp Zoofari. My favorite animal is a hippo, and outside of work I enjoy camping, swimming, going for walks in the park and having a picnic under a tree.

My name is Sydnie, I’m excited for the opportunity to teach young people about the value of the natural environment and how the Houston Zoo plays a role in conservation efforts. The new One Ocean Aquarium is my favorite exhibit at the zoo. I could stand there all day watching the turtles, sharks, and rays swimming together.

My name is Taisa, and I am excited to have the opportunity to teach AND learn in a fun environment. My favorite animals are Tapirs, and outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and dancing!

My name is Vanessa, and I am looking forward to another summer at the Zoo. I love elephants and capybaras!
