Beach Clean Up
Please join us for our inaugural Camp Zoofari Beach Clean Up! This summer, campers and their family and friends are invited to join the Houston Zoo, as well as friends from SPLASh, as we help clean up the beach to protect sea turtles and other marine animals. The event will begin with the release of a rehabilitated loggerhead sea turtle!

What to Bring
Please plan to bring the following:
- Your camp shirt
- Any beach gear desired
- Sun screen/sun protection
- Reusable water bottles
- Optional – $15 for Stewart beach parking
The Houston Zoo/SPLASh will bring:
- Tools and supplies for the clean up
- Various staff, including members of our sea turtle hospital team
- Fun and enthusiasm
Campers helping wildlife
So far this summer, campers have helped save wildlife by:
- keeping 4,573 single use water bottles out of the waste stream
- composting 146.8 pounds of lunch scraps
- recycling 4 cell phones
- recycling 39.1 pounds of snack wrappers
SPLASh
SPLASh is a conservation and education project in partnership with the American Bird Conservancy, Black Cat GIS, and GCBO. With the SPLASh project, they hope to decrease the amount of trash in and entering Gulf Coast waters on the upper Texas coast.
SPLASh will be helping out, providing supplies, coordination with the city of Galveston, and their expertise!
